Senator Sumaila begins consultations amid possible return to APC

Kano Senator Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila, representing Kano South Senatorial District, has begun consultations with his constituents to decide on whether to defect from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The decision follows a call by APC leaders from Kano South Senatorial District for Sumaila to return to the party, citing internal crisis and factionalization within the NNPP.

Sumaila acknowledged the call, stating that he is considering the move due to his constituents’ interests.

Emphasising the importance of consultation and openness in politics, Sumaila said, “I am into politics because of my people, and whatever situation I find myself, I will let them decide my fate.”

He assured that he would abide by his constituents’ decision, saying, “Whatever decision my constituents take, I will abide by it because, in politics, consultation and openness are critical.”

Sumaila’s potential return to APC has sparked interest, given his political strength and commitment to the region. Ultimately, the decision will be guided by his constituents’ views and preferences.
