Following the approval of the reconstruction of Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene federal road by the Federal Executive Council through the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, former Abia State governor and current senator, Theodore Orji, has thanked the Federal Government, particularly, the Federal Ministry of Works, for the gesture.
Senator Orji, who represents Abia Central at the National Assembly, expressed his happiness that “the Federal Government has come to our rescue on this road.”
According to the senator, “this is not an individual effort but collective efforts because that road is horrible, it is terrible. Everybody was crying that the Federal Government should come and help us, including the state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.
“It is all these pleadings that made the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Works to come and rehabilitate it.
“The road is in my constituency and I am happy about it. People cried out and students protested and now the Federal Government headed to the calls. It is a group effort and no single Individual can come and claim that positive intervention by the Federal Government.”
