Senator Onyewuchi trains 70 science teachers, equips 35 schools in Imo

The Senator representing Imo East (Owerri Senatorial District), Ezenwa Francis Onyewuchi, said he has trained and graduated 70 science teachers and equipped 35 schools with modern teaching and learning facilities for enhanced academic excellence in Imo State.

Sen. Onyewuchi disclosed this Monday when he commissioned a 500 KVA transformer substation he constructed at Mbieri Road, neighbourhood Akwakuma Uratta, in the Owerri North Council Area.

He said that the gesture is in response to the request by the residents of the community to tackle the lingering epileptic power supply from the national grid, adding that the facility had already been installed at the SPIBAT road and in some parts of the neighbouring communities.

The Senator reiterated his determination to extend his ongoing women and youth empowerment programmes to all communities in the area despite some challenges.

He said: “I will continue to do more in order to touch the lives of our people and alleviate their plight and this also entails provision of sola water and rehabilitation of dilapidated rural feeder roads”.

The Senator commended the traditional ruler of the Community, HRH Eze David Nnawuihe Onu Egwuneoke (Eze Udo 111), for the sustenance of peace and unity in his domain and his premium on the protection of lives and properties in the community.

He charged residents of the community to guard against the vandalisation of the amenity.

Responding, Eze David Onu Egwunwoke extolled the Senator for his qualitative result-oriented representation at the red-chambers which he noted had brought smiles on the faces of his constituents.

The monarch, while acknowledging the various empowerment programmes of the Senator, pleaded with him to do something urgent about the moribund reservoir and the transformer at the ancestral market of the community 

He commended the state government for her urgent strides to remedy the disturbing security challenges in some parts of the state, adding that a local vigilante group had already been put in place in the community.

Also speaking, a prominent politician cum business mogul, Chief Marcellinus Okechukwu Nlemigbo (aka MARCON), described Senator Onyewuchi as a grassroots selfless politician, a man of vision, courage and foresighted who has justified the mandate given to him by the people through meaningful representation.

He also commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for his impeccable record of service over the years and enjoined the community to continue to support him.
