The 10th Senate has resolved to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations of corruption associated with the operation and management of the Government’s Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
This was made known today at the Senate plenary sitting.
This is coming a few days after the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) condemned the IPPIS payment method after the body members were paid double salaries in June.
According to a report by Punch, ASUP claimed the double salary mistakenly paid by IPPIS justified the complaint of the inadequacies of the payment platform.
It will also be recalled that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), in February 2022, embarked on an industrial action over allegations of irregularities about the IPPIS payment method, among other reasons.
Reacting to the allegations of inadequacies, the Senate disclosed its readiness to investigate the alleged corruption associated with the system.
The Senate also resolved to look into the disputes on the preferred payment platform between IPPIS or UTAS for staff of Nigerian universities.
