Senate leadership: I never said 82 Senators back Ahmed Lawan ― Wamakko

The Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has denied statement credited to him saying eighty two (82), Senators are so far backing Senator Ahmed Lawan’s aspiration to clinch the Presidentship of the ninth Senate.
This is contained in a statement signed by his special adviser on media, Bashir Mani, and released to Journalists in Sokoto.
The statement averred that Senator Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District,  was erroneously and maliciously quoted by an Online publication, the Buharist Reporters,  as making the disclosure when he visited the Campaign Office of the incumbent Senate Leader, on Wednesday, in Abuja.
Senator Wamakko rebuts, “It is not my responsibility to speak on behalf of the forum on this all-important issue which affects all the 109 Senators.
“It is also noteworthy here that, our great party, the APC had since publicly made its stance known on the matter.
“All the Senators, both new and old ones, are also positively disposed towards ensuring the smooth emergence of the new leadership of the ninth Senate.”
