Senate 2019: Chris Uba, Monarch, others, escape death, as thugs disrupt campaign rallies

THE Senatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Anambra South Senatorial District, Chief Chris Uba, the Traditional ruler of Uga, Igwe Chidi Ezenwugo, his cabinet Chiefs, member representing Aguata in the state House of Assembly, Hon Eucharia Anazodo, PDP candidate in Aguata 1 constituency, Ezenwa a, Senator Ugochukwu Uba, among others reportedly escaped death by the whiskers when a yet to be identified thugs, invaded the residence of a political chieftain in Uga, Chief Peter Okala, and attacked them where they retired to after political rally in the area.

According to sources, after chief Chris Uba had gone round the entire four villages of Uga on campaign rally and they reportedly endorsed him as the senator to be, he then retired to the residence of Chief Okala for entertainment and to also address others there.

On the process, thugs numbering about 30 stormed the place, attacked whoever was within reach, damaged the chairs, looted property and tables.

Immediately, Uba’s security detail reportedly guided and whisked him away while others scampered for safety.

Speaking to newsmen yesterday on the incident that happened last Friday night, the host, Peter Okala, said, “I wrote the Commissioner of Police about the programme and that I needed security and he gave me two policemen.

This thing was carried out by the senator in the area who for two tenures he has been there, no achievement”.

“I will not take this if a personality like me can be attacked in my house that means the common man on the street has no security.

This was perpetrated by the said Senator and I am putting up a petition so that the perpetrators will be arrested to face the wrath of the law”.

“The traditional ruler of this community, senator Ugochukwu Uba and others were victims of this attack as they all scampered for safety and scores injured on the process”

he said that Chris Uba had attracted seven roads in the community and empowered the youths for 12 years when the said senator has not done anything to his people and wants to go for the third tenure.

He commended the Uga Democratic Movement that sponsored the hosting of the PDP candidate after the rally adding that “the most important thing is that the people have endorsed Chris Uba and presented elephant tusk and live eagle to him.”
