Sen Jiya urges Muslims to uphold Ramadan virtues beyond Eid-el-Fitr

As Muslims in Nigeria join their counterparts across the world to mark this year’s Eid-el Fitri, the Senator representing Niger South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Peter Jiya, has stressed the need for Muslims to continuously practise all the good lessons learnt during the Ramadan period in their daily activities.

While congratulating the Muslims on the successful completion of the 30-day fast in a statement issued on Tuesday, the Senator reminded the Muslims to pray for the progress of the nation as Ramadan teaches good virtues such as unity, sacrifice, patriotism, true worship, and good neighbourliness at all times.

He noted that for the nation to record success in all sectors of its life, citizens must recognize the importance of spiritual periods like Ramadan and as well utilise them to promote kindness, generosity and collective development of people so devotedly.

“Permit me to pray Allah to accept all acts of Ibadah performed by the Muslim Ummah during Ramadan even as I strongly advise the Muslim faithful to sustain the good lessons learnt during the period,” the Senator further stated.

According to him, since “Ramadan was a period of spiritual worship as evidenced in abstinence, sacrifice and devotion,” it is therefore important for Muslims across the world to promote and sustain the excellent virtues for the benefit of all people, in all places.

“Let these good virtues as taught by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) always reflect in our lifestyle for a better society, ” he admonished.

The senator also enjoined them to use the occasion to reach out to the less privileged and continue to pray for the unity, peace and progress of the Senatorial District and the country at large.
