The Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has expressed confidence that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Sen. George Akume, will deliver on the expectations of President Bola Tinubu, the North Central, and Nigeria as a whole.
Governor Mutfwang, in a statement signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr. Gyang Bere, stated this during a courtesy visit to the SGF in his office in Abuja.
He said, “Your Excellency, we are here with a delegation from Plateau State to formally congratulate you on behalf of the good people of Plateau State on your well-deserved appointment as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“I am happy that Mr. President deemed it fit to bring you to this enviable office, which automatically makes you the most senior public servant from North-Central Nigeria.
Therefore, we have come to congratulate you, to identify with you as our leader, and to remind you that we, from the North Central, will be looking up to you for leadership as we chart a new course for our people.”
Governor Mutfwang noted that although they are from different political platforms, the interest of the Plateau people and the North Central region goes beyond a political platform, and he pledged the support and loyalty of the people of Plateau to the SGF.
“Together with distinguished Senators and Members of the House, we have come to intimate you that although we may be from different political platforms, we know that the interest of our people is beyond platforms, and we will be willing to provide strategic collaboration in the course of our tenure by the grace of God in order to ensure that our people get value for their contributions to the government at different levels.
“We wish you a very successful tenure that will make North Central and the entire country very proud. We are confident that you have what it takes to deliver on the expectations of Mr. President and the good people of North Central Nigeria,” he stated.
In his response, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, expressed gratitude to the Governor and his delegation for the visit and explained that President Bola Tinubu acknowledges the diversity of Nigeria and is ready to carry every part of the country in his administration.
He said the renewed hope of President Tinubu is already playing out with the appointments of Service Chiefs, where the entire nation is being represented for inclusiveness.
Sen. Akume assured Nigerians that President Tinubu will restructure the economy of the country to benefit everybody and promised to collaborate with Governor Mutfwang, the people of Plateau State, and the people of North Central to promote peace and unity in the country.
