Selfish politicians use security challenges to score political points ― Oshiomole

Adams Oshiomhole

Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomole has called on Nigerians to ensure they do not allow themselves to be deceived by the antics of selfish politicians in the country that use security challenges in the country as an ethnic colouration to score cheap political points.

Oshiomole said this on Saturday during a rally organised by one faction of the party to welcome some new members who recently decamped from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state at a playground near the Enugu-Abakaliki expressway after Governor Umahi refuses to grant them entrance to Pa Oruta Ngele stadium which they vowed to use for their rally .

Oshiomole frown at some of the accusations levelled against the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari by the selfish politicians who portrayed all the insecurity and killings in some states in the country as the handwork of herdsmen.

He then gave Nigerians his assurance that they will work hard at all levels to protect every citizen regardless of tribe or religion stressing that his party will deal with all criminals including those in the government.

He pleaded the people of the SouthEast to vote for APC and President Buhari in next year’s election as he has delivered democracy dividends to the zone maintaining that the President and the security agencies will continue to work hard to put an end to the security challenges facing the country.

“Let me urge you to be more careful because this season people are spreading untruth. People are being hired to turn the gospel upside down. They want us to believe that every problem should be explained in ethnic and religious terms”

“We have a problem and we must confront those problems. Criminals must be dealt with individually as criminals and government at all levels must work hard to protect every Nigerian regardless of tribe or religion”

” If Buhari has remembered the Southeast which did not give him more than 10 per cent in 2015 imagine what he will do if you give him 85percent in 2019″.

Also, the Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu in his remarks, urged the people not to give their PVCs to anybody but to guide it jealously as it is the only way they can return President Buhari in 2019 as the way of correcting the 2015 mistakes.

He added that the President has also approved a new agency for robotics and artificial intelligence to be established in South East in addition to the new River Niger bridge and many federal roads in the zone.

“In 2015 I pleased with the zone not to put our eggs in one basket. Today I want them to compare the 16 years of PDP and relate it with just 3 years of PDP. The three years of APC is greater than the 16 years of PDP.

“The time has come for the Southeast to be in the mainstream of Nigerian politics by voting for President Buhari and APC in 2019”.
