Seed of Life College has effective learning structure —Parents

AS parents and guardians search for schools that can build up a child academically and morally, as admission into junior and senior secondary schools commence for the 2018/19 academic session, Sunday Tribune is presenting to the general public standard private primary and secondary schools in the country where these qualities can be met.

This week, our focus is on Seed of Life College, Onireke, Ibadan, one of the outstanding private secondary schools in Oyo State.

The story of Seed of Life schools started in October 1991, with Nursery and Primary School, having put in place the required teaching and human resources that can produce excellent and innovative scholars for secondary and university education by the proprietor, Mrs Kikelomo Runsewe.

In 1998 the college came into being with a vision to train students, not only to pass the examinations but to also discover themselves, by giving them the foundation for skill development process.

Today, Seed of Life College has established itself among outstanding private secondary schools in the country. This is evident in the college’s excellent academic performance in WAEC, NECO and in curricular activities, as well as inter-school quiz competitions at state and national levels over the years.

Mrs Runsewe declared that every child is unique. She said: “Every child is gifted and we have designed a curriculum to discover and nurture the gifts in every child. The main purpose of education is to take a child on a journey of self-discovery, and to unravel the hidden potential and gifts in them,”.

Some parents who spoke with Sunday Tribune confirmed the high standard of the school and the positive impact of the college on their children.

Mr Emeka Njoku said that the school had helped his daughter to harness her potential and also to discover her leadership skills.

“I feel proud seeing her growing up to become bold confident, humble, respectful and sound academically,” he said.

Speaking in the same vein, Mr Aderinto described the proprietor as a good mother, disciplinarian, an icon in destiny moulding and epitome of good character who has been able to employ competent, faithful, hardworking and God-fearing teachers to run the school with her.

Mr Aderinto said that his son, Daniel Mayowa before he joined the school, was un-serious and always craved pleasure. “But when he joined the college, this craving in him died permanently and the seed of life sprang up in him,” he said.

Mrs W.A. Owolabi stated that the college had helped her children to identify and develop their innate potential like problem-solving skills and good reading habits, adding that school also inculcated in the good habit and morals with social values.

According to her, the students/ pupils of the school have moral rectitude and are well-cultured.

“Temitope, one of my children, had her senior secondary education at Seed of Life College after her junior secondary education in another school. But to God be the glory, she passed out with excellent results. She is currently studying Law at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. The school has really helped in shaping her destiny and future career, as she now studies better and does not allow any challenges to discourage her from achieving her dreams,” Mrs Owolabi said.

Mrs Martins also declared that the college had impacted positively on her daughter, Anjola Martins.

According to her, the school has lived up to expectation, as her daughter’s academic performance and character have progressively improved.

“She displays a very high sense of responsibility and respect.“The hostel life really brought the best in our daughter, moulding and shaping her into a decent and mature person.

“My daughter spent more of her time at the school and the hostel than at home, and she always returned home healthily and appearing well nourished. There was never an instance when we ever had complaints about her health and welfare while in school.

“Seed of Life college is an institution that parents can entrust their children to, especially for sound academic and moral education,” Mrs Martins,” said

Pastor Sunday Odekunbi said the school has a good disciplinary and effective learning structure on the ground, which he said has actually made it possible for students to excel academically and as well behave in a godly and respectable manner.

“I also want to appreciate the school authority for their scholarship programmes which give room for healthy competitions among students of the school. Lastly, I give glory to God for the wisdom granted the school proprietress for the smooth running of the school,” he concluded.
