See yourselves as agents of change, Abia govt charges Christian mothers

Abia State government has charged mothers to see themselves as agents of change.

Permanent Secretary, Government House (Finance), Abia State and knight of St. Mulumba, Mr Romanus Madu, who gave the charge during last Sunday Mothers’ Day celebration at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Ugwunchara, Umuahia, described the event as worth celebrating.

According to him, “mothers generally are different in nature. For one to be a woman worth celebrating, you must be a real mother,  promoting virtues that people must emulate”.

He encouraged them to continue to add value to the society, noting that “without mothers, there won’t be a nation.”

Madu also urged them to use the period to commit the government and the people of the state to prayers, as he observed that the prayers of mothers attracts God’s intervention.

In his remarks, the chairman of the event, Mr Onuora Izuegbulem, stated that it was necessary to celebrate mothers on earth, given the significant roles they play in the family.

In her address, the president of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) of the parish, Lady Onyedikachi Madu, urged women not to allow the present economic situation pose threats to their marriages but subject such challenges to constant prayers.

The theme for this year’s programme was The Role of Mary in the Mission of the Church.
