Security: We’ll deploy drones to monitor criminal activities ― Abiodun

THE Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, said his administration will deploy drones to monitor criminal activities in the state, in order to ensure the safety of lives and property of residents.

Just as he declared the readiness of his government to grant the amnesty programme for repentant criminals in the State.

The governor made this known while speaking at the first anniversary coronation of the Olota of Ota, Oba Abdulkabir Obalanlege, on Saturday, that a time frame would be given for people who are illegally in possession of dangerous weapons to lay them down while anyone who remains adamant would be dealt with according to the laws of the land.

“We will declare an amnesty programme for criminals to submit their arms. A specific period will be given after which any criminal who refused to submit his arms will face the full weight of the law.

“We will also deploy drones to monitor criminal activities in the State to guarantee the safety of lives and property,” he added.

While assuring that education, health, agriculture and other sectors, would be given deserved attention, Abiodun said roads in the town with bad conditions would be received government attention in due course.

He said the constitution of the Chieftaincy Review Committee was a testimony to his administration’s commitment to restoring the pride of the traditional institutions in the State.

He described the Olota as an embodiment of intellect, saying his experience in the media world had prepared him for a leadership role.

The monarch in his remarks informed the august gathering that plans have been concluded by his people to launch a foundation that would empower and move people out of poverty, while infrastructure would also be provided to make life meaningful to the people, as the government could not do it alone.

He pledged to serve his people to the best of his ability and also support the State government in combating crimes and criminality in society.
