Security operatives rescue kidnapped Plateau monarch, arrest two suspects

A combined team of security agencies in conjunction with the vigilante and hunters have rescued the kidnapped monarch of Vwang, His Royal Highness Day Gyang Gutt Balak while two persons were equally arrested in connection with the incident.

Even as the Senator representing Plateau North Senator Istifanus Gyang has called on the security agencies to provide adequate security for traditional rulers who are now targets of kidnappers.

The traditional ruler was kidnapped on Sunday at about 8:00 pm close to the main gate of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Plateau State while returning from a function.

The Operations Safe Haven OPSH in a statement signed by its Media Officer Major Ishaku Takwa said immediately the incident occurred commander Operation SAFE HAVEN Major General Ibrahim Ali placed the troops of Sector 6 deployed at Riyom on red alert and to embark on the hot trail of the perpetrators.

It added that the combined team of OPSH in conjunction with other security agencies, Vigilante group and Hunters conducted clearance operations in the mountainous region of Sabon Gida Kanal, Gero and Dahol general area.

The statement further pointed out that the operation led to the release of the traditional ruler while two suspects were arrested at an abandoned building during the operation adding that the monarch has been united with his family.

The Commander operation SAFE HAVEN, Maj Gen Ibrahim Ali commended the efforts of the Vigilante, the Hunters group and all who provided useful information to security agencies during the operation.

He further urged law-abiding citizens to be security conscious and always observe and report any suspicious movement of persons in their area.

Meanwhile, the Senator representing Plateau North, Senator Istifanus Gyang has called for tight security around traditional rulers who are now targets of kidnappers.

The Senator in a statement signed by his Special Assistant Media and protocol Musa Ashom commended the efforts of security agencies and other well-meaning individuals for the safe return of the monarch.

“The regain of freedom by Gwom Rwey Wwang Hrh Da Gyang Gutt Balak following his abduction by Kidnappers on Sunday has come as a big relief to me as a Senate representing Plateau North,” he said.
