The accused
A security man working on a farm in Lekki area of Lagos State has allegedly killed his co-worker, after which he hacked his remains to pieces, and dumped them in the bush.
The suspect, Haruna (surname withheld), has however been arrested by a team of policemen who had been investigating the case of the missing deceased man.
It was gathered that the deceased, a herdsman, and the suspect had a disagreement, which led to a fisticuff.
Haruna reportedly stabbed his co-worker to death and on seeing that the 28-year-old man had collapsed, dragged his body aside and cut it into pieces.
The suspect reportedly packed the pieces of the deceased man’s body into a sack and threw it into a nearby bush to cover his tracks.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident and the arrest of the suspect to Metro.
It was gathered that a younger brother of the deceased reported a case of a missing person to the police when his brother did not return from work.
The PPRO added that the suspect had been transferred to the homicide section State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, for further investigations.
Badmos said: “The Lagos State Police Command, upon discreet investigation and intelligence gathering, has arrested one Haruna who murdered his friend and co-worker, cut him to pieces and dumped him in the bush.”
She also added that “the suspect and victim were co-workers on a farm in Ibeju Lekki, where the suspect was a guard and the victim a herdsman.”
Badmos spoke further: “On December 3, the suspect, aged 28, had an altercation with the victim aged 27 years. The altercation resulted in a physical fight and in the process, the suspect stabbed the deceased with a dagger, cut him into pieces, packed them in a sack and dumped it in the bush.”
Badmos also added that “The clue gathered by the police led to the arrest of the suspect who later confessed to the crime and led operatives to the scene where the dismembered body was recovered.”
