In an effort to maintain peace and improve security in Cross River State, Governor Otu has launched ‘Operation Okwok’, a collaborative security task force in the state.
The launch took place at the governor’s office, where 100 trucks were distributed to kick off operations immediately.
During the ceremony, Governor Otu warned criminals to either leave the state or face legal consequences.
“This is a significant achievement for the state. We encountered numerous challenges, with security being a top priority on our agenda. Nowadays, robbery and kidnapping have become rare. I would like to especially acknowledge my security adviser and the service chiefs for significantly reducing insecurity,” he remarked.
“My message to the remaining criminals is clear: they must either leave or face the law.”
Governor Otu highlighted that enhancing security efforts through infrastructure development and the establishment of various security bases marks the initial phase of their initiatives to improve safety. He reassured citizens about the state’s security status.
“Cross River is now the safest region in the country. We want to instil confidence in investors regarding the safety of their investments,” he stated.
He urged residents to work alongside security forces by providing useful information to help maintain peace in the area.
The event was attended by service chiefs, members of the executive council, and representatives from the State House of Assembly.
