The Acting Director-General of the Institute, Mr Jonathan. Juma disclosed this on Tuesday when he led the members of the Senior Executive Course 40 of the Institute on a Study visit to the Force Headquarters , Abuja.
The DG lamented that the situation had gone so bad that the Military personnel were no being deployed to the streets and strategic places as the Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF has been overstressed due to the level of the security challenges in all the parts of the country.
He stated that it was based on this directive that prompted the Course participants to come to the Force Headquarters in order to familiarize themselves with the challenges facing the Nigeria Police in performing optimally their constitutional role of proving adequate security for lives and property of the citizens and foreign Nationale alike.
He said that the participants also in the course of their visit would want to now the NPF minimum needs for their operational efficiency so as to be able to face the insecurity squarely as the Military personnel were to protect the nation’s territorial integrity against external aggression.
DG hinted that such a visit would also be taken to other Military And para-military formations in the course of their finding to enable the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the menace.
Responding, the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris who spoke through a Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Shuaibu Gambo said that the. Visit of the Course participants was timely which would go a long way in proffering a final solution to the current security challenges. In the country.
The IG, however, said that despite all the odds, the Officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force NPF would continue to do their best in providing adequate security for all and sundry as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
