The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has handed flags to the party’s candidates in tomorrow’s (
Saturday’s) local government elections and charged them to represent the party well in the elections.
Secondus, who was in Ado Ekiti on a visit to the state, described the All Progressives Congress (APC) as “a broken government and a party which has failed the entire citizens of Nigeria.”
This is just as the APC has announced that it will not participate in the election, saying the election was a “misnomer, undemocratic and compromised election from the beginning.”
Secondus, who insisted that the PDP will defeat the APC in any election, urged the party supporters in Ekiti State to come out en-mass and vote for the party’s candidates in the local government election.
The PDP national chairman, who addressed path faithful at a rally at Matthew Street in Ado Ekiti, charged the people to come out on Saturday, “so that the APC would be disgraced in the 2018 governorship election.”
For the coming governorship election in the state, Secondus assured that the PDP would conduct free, fair and transparent primary election henceforth across the country, and also do the same for the governorship, Senate and the House of Representatives members.
Secondus described Ekiti State as “lucky to have a governor like Ayodele Fayose,” saying his infrastructural development of the state was laudable and would endear the PDP to the people.
Meanwhile, All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has said it will not participate in the weekend local government election across the state.
In a statement by the Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, the party said it is boycotting the election because of what it described as a “misnomer, undemocratic and compromised election from the beginning”.
Olatunbosun explained: “The compromised State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) is composed of members who are card-carrying members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with a mandate to endorse and implement the decisions and directives of Governor Ayodele Fayose and his party.
“No democratic institution or political party worth its salt will waste its resources and time to participate in a compromised election and under a lawless administration as exemplified by Fayose.
“Fayose in the last three years has demonstrated an extreme recklessness and executive rascality in government, almost usurping the responsibilities of other arms of government with impunity who is accustomed to presenting himself as the Speaker of the House of Assembly and who also invaded the court where he attacked a judge in the temple of justice.
