WE call on the Osun State government to come to our aid before the Fiditi stream will kill everybody in Ikire. We have been begging but nothing has been done. There was a publication on this issue in the Nigeria Tribune about this on March 3, 2020 and the Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation in Osun State, Mr. Sola Oladepo promised there will be a difference.
I quote him, “government is aware of the plight of the people and is working on ensuring that flooding becomes a thing of the past in Ikire. Fortunately for us, the deputy governor is from that side and he directly supervises all the dredging work that is going on in that area, we have been on dredging of flood-prone rivers and streams for the last two months.”
But it is now two years when the promise was made and nothing has been done up till now. We therefore want to use this medium to remind the government of its promise and do something tangible to save lives and properties of the people.
