The leadership of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) National Working Committee (NWC), has reacted to the judgment of Justice Danladi Umar of the Code of Conduct Tribunal which on Wednesday discharged and acquitted the Senate President, Bukola Saraki of the charges of false assets declaration levelled against him.
Speaking with Tribune Online, National publicity secretary of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi said the party was happy that the course of justice has been served. He further declared that with the outcome of the trial, “the distraction facing the leadership of the national assembly has been laid to rest.”
He said: “We are delighted that the matter has been finally resolved. As a party, despite the fact that one of our senior party leaders was involved, we never interfered with the trial, given our commitment to rule of law. We are happy that the Senate President has been vindicated.
“We believe that whatever is left with our party leadership issues in the national assembly has been finally concluded with this trial.”
“We can now move forward and the distraction can now be laid to rest. We are delighted that the course of justice has been served. No Nigerian should be presumed guilty until his case has been brought to a logical conclusion.”
