Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of professors Abiodun Akinpelu Denloye and Basirat Olushola Oladipupo as the substantive deputy vice chancellors of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), located in Ikorodu.
Denloye will be in charge of academic matters while the Oladipupo will be in charge of administration.
Announcing their appointments in a statement made available by the head of Public Affairs unit, Office of the Special Adviser to Governor on Education, Mr Oyelami Adesoye, the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola said the appointment of the two dons was in line with LASUSTECH Law, 2021, aiming at ensuring that there is no void in the institution’s leadership.
While wishing them well in their new roles, the head of service urged them to demonstrate a high level of dedication, diligence, and selflessness in the discharge of their duties to justify the confidence reposed in them by the state government.
He also implored them to let their track record of excellence and high academic pedigrees impact positively on the growth of the new university.
Mr Muri-Okunola noted that their appointment was conditional to their assets declaration at the Code of Conduct Bureau and urged them to complete the Code of Conduct documents which highlighted the expectations of the government in respect of their new appointments.
Interestingly, both appointees were from the Lagos State University ( LASU) , Ojo. Professor Oladipupo is from the Department of Physical and Health Education, while Professor Denloye is from the Faculty of Science.
Meanwhile, the permanent secretary, Office of the Special Adviser on Education, Mr Adeniran Kasali, explained that the new appointment was sequel to the expiration of the tenures of Dr Gbemavo Kolawole Godonu and Dr Olumide Metilelu, who have been in acting capacity of their respective offices.
