Sanwo-Olu swears in eight new perm secs

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu swore in eight new ones on Thursday and charged them to demonstrate complete loyalty to his administration and uphold a culture of accountability.

Speaking after the new permanent secretaries were administered the oath of office and oath of secrecy, Governor Sanwo-Olu said they were chosen to be the best among the directors in the ministries that applied for the position, urging them to contribute significantly to the success of his administration based on people’s expectations of them.

Sanwo-Olu, while giving the charge, noted that they had attained high status, and desired high responsibility, saying that people expected them to produce excellent results, orientated leadership, and service delivery that demonstrated loyalty to the government.

“You are well deserving of this appointment, I and the people of Lagos State have high expectations of you, you should contribute significantly to the success of this administration,” the governor said.

The newly sworn permanent secretaries are: Dr. Idowu Abiola, Mrs. Olanrewaju Aderinsola, Mr. Bajulaiye Adetokunbo, Mr. Mahmud Tajudeen, Mr. Agbabiaka Wasiu, Mr. Oki Gbolahan, Mrs Onigbanjo Rainat and Mr. Olayinka Adebayo.

Speaking at the swearing in, the State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Bode Agoro, said the appointment of the new eight permanent secretaries was to revitalise the state government’s policy.

Agoro said Governor Sanwo-Olu had been fair, and transparent in appointing them, maintaining that those appointed as permanent secretaries were chosen from the pool of directors in the State Civil Service that participated in the 2024 and 2025 screening exercises.

He urged the new permanent secretaries to maintain good standing relationships in their offices and assignments, saying that they should have full confidence in the discharge of their assignments to achieve the objectives of the state government.

Reading the vote of assurance on behalf of the new permanent secretaries, Aderinsola thanked the state governor for appointing them, assuring that they would put in their best to justify the confidence reposed in them.
