Several prominent Nigerians, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, have extended Easter greetings to Christians across the country.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in his message, urged Christians to emulate the virtues of humility, perseverance, and compassion exemplified by Jesus Christ.
He emphasised the importance of good neighborliness, selflessness, patience, and love, and encouraged Lagosians to contribute to the growth and development of the state and nation.
“As we commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, I want Lagosians and Nigerians in general to make togetherness and unity of the country the central goal of our nationality,” he said.
Dr Kayode Fayemi, former Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, called on Nigerians to reflect on the message of Easter by being compassionate, helping one another, and being Christ-like.
He urged Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of Easter, including selflessness, love, and forgiveness, and to work collectively to build a more just, peaceful, and prosperous society.
“We are, no doubt, passing through challenging times. Economic hardship and political uncertainties continue to test our strength as a people. But I remain hopeful. Nigeria is blessed with innovative minds and vast resources, and I believe we will emerge stronger from these trials.”
Other leaders, including Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State, and Dr. Kazeem Adesina Abidikugu, founder of DAKA Foundation, also extended Easter greetings and urged Christians to celebrate peacefully, show love and compassion to the less privileged, and pray for national unity and development.
