Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Minister of Education, Olatunji Alausa, and former Governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba, have commended the Vice Chairman/CEO of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Olatunji Bello, for his significant contributions to education and human development in the country.
They all gave the accolades on Wednesday during the official handover ceremony of a newly constructed 550-capacity auditorium, donated by Bello to the Lagos State University (LASU) campus in Epe.
The ultra-modern facility, named the Olatunji-Bello Auditorium, was built as part of the donor’s effort to enhance educational infrastructure and contribute meaningfully to society.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in his address at the event, praised Bello’s vision, describing the donation as a remarkable gesture towards academic excellence and public service.
The governor said the modern facility was more than just a building, but a beacon of knowledge, creativity, and intellectual engagement, pointing out that it would serve as a hub for academic discourse, cultural exchange, and strategic gatherings, while enriching the learning environment and inspiring students to strive for excellence
“This modern facility is more than just a building; it is a beacon of knowledge, creativity, and intellectual engagement. It will serve as a hub for academic discourse, cultural exchange, and strategic gatherings, enriching the learning environment and inspiring students to strive for excellence,” he said.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to education through the Education and Technology pillar of the THEMES+ Agenda, saying that it was aimed at delivering world-class infrastructure and producing globally competitive graduates.
Minister of Education, Dr. Alausa, who is also the Chairman of the occasion, in his goodwill message, equally applauded Bello’s dedication to educational development, urged other stakeholders to emulate his example by investing in innovative academic infrastructure.
The minister, however, reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to advancing education and technology in line with the Renewed Hope agenda.
Also speaking, Osoba equally applauded Bello for his selfless investment in education, describing the project as a gift that would benefit generations to come.
Osoba praised the FCCPC boss as a man of honour who, he said, remained committed to uplifting society.
Vice Chancellor of LASU and wife of the donor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, expressed deep appreciation to all dignitaries present.
She praised her husband’s unwavering belief in the power of education, noting that the new auditorium aligned with the university’s strategic goal of developing future-ready leaders through enhanced infrastructure.
In his address, Bello restated his commitment to supporting the state’s educational initiatives and called on students to make effective use of the new facility, which he described as not just a building, but a vision for the future.
“This is not just a hall for academic learning, but a testament to what is possible when faith, purpose, and public interest converge.
“Let it be recognised that today we are commissioning not just a building, but a vision for the future,” he said.
