Despite a federal high court restraining the Kano state government from reinstating the newly appointed Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II received his letter of appointment on Friday.
The letter was presented by Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano at the African House of the Kano State Government House.
Shortly after the reinstated Emir of Kano received the letter of appointment, traditional title holders paid homage to Emir Sanusi in accordance with the traditional entails.
It will be recalled that the court order also kicked against the abolishment of four emirates: Bichi, Gaya, Karaye, and Rano, in a bill earlier passed by the state house of assembly on Thursday.
It directed all parties involved to maintain the status quo ante pending the determination of the suit filed by Aminu Babba-Dan’Agundi, Sarkin Dawaki Babba, on Thursday.
Justice Liman granted leave to the Plaintiff/Applicant to issue and serve their concurrent originating motion as well as all other court processes on the 6th Defendant (IGP) in FCT Abuja and outside the jurisdiction of the Honourable Court.
The defendants in the suit include the Kano State government, the Kano State House of Assembly, the Speaker of the State Assembly, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, the Inspector General of Police, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Department of State Security.
As at the time of filling this report, it cannot be confirmed if the defendants have received the court order as of the time of filing this report on Friday.
