Samuel Ogundipe, Premium Times reporter, granted bail, freed

SAMUEL Ogundipe, a Premium Times journalist, who was arrested and detained by the police since Tuesday, August 14, has been released.

He was released after his bail was granted by Magistrate Abdulwahab Mohammed of the Kubwa Grade 1 Magistrate Court in Kubwa, Abuja, on Friday morning.

Ogundipe had allegedly been secretly arraigned on Wednesday, without being allowed legal representation.

It was said that that same day Magistrate Mohammed granted a request by the police that the journalist be detained for five days until August 20.

However, on Friday morning when the case came up again, Magistrate Mohammed grated Ogundipe bail and ordered his release.
