The Senator representing Imo West (Orlu Senatorial Zone), Imo State, Sen. Osita Izunaso, has hosted Muslim communities in Orlu Zone and some parts of Imo State in celebration of Sallah lunch after a month of fasting during Ramadan.
Receiving the Muslim faithful at his residence in Owerri on Tuesday, Izunaso, represented by his Senior Legislative Aide on Constituency Affairs and Deputy Director General of the Kpakpando Campaign Organization, Barr. Jude Onuoma, extolled the existing unity among the people.
He said: “Today we celebrate with our Muslim faithful who have ended their fasting for Ramadan.”
While commending their leader and Chief Imam of Owerri Central Mosque, Eze Abdulfath Chimaeze Emetumah, the senator pointed out that given their level of mobilization, it simply shows that the Muslim community in Orlu Zone and other parts of Imo State is united and peaceful.
He used the gathering to pray for peace and stability in the zone and the state.
In his speech earlier, the Chief Imam of Owerri Central Mosque, Eze Abdulfath Chimaeze Emetumah, and the traditional ruler of Umuofor Ancient Kingdom, Oguta, Imo State, said the event, which is the second of its kind, was laudable and encouraging.
According to him, the gathering shows unity and love.

He said: “This event connotes that we all, irrespective of our religion, are one, whether Christians or Muslims. We all are children of Abraham, and this is good, and we thank Senator Izunaso for hosting this.”
On the recent attack on some hunters at Uromi in Delta State, the monarch advised Nigerians not to succumb to the attack and to avoid anything that would drag the country into an ethno-religious war.
The Chief Imam reminded Nigerians that this has been the game plan of enemies of the nation.
He pointed out that any Northerner, Southerner, or Westerner killed in any part of the country is not a deliberate plan by those in that zone but rather the action of a small minority who want to use it to cause a reprisal attack.
He advised Northerners whose brother hunters were killed in Uromi not to think of reprisal attacks, adding that doing so simply means they have succeeded.
He said: “Nigeria is the centre of hope for every black man in the world. We are about 2.5 million, and so Nigeria has become the centre of our enemies among our neighbours and the Western world, and they have been trying to make sure the country is destabilised.”
He said that carrying out the killing of people from the North so that it can escalate into a religious war is their game plan.
The large number of Muslim communities in Imo gathered with Sen. Izunaso’s representatives for a group photo.
