Sakara music lovers from Lagos State and beyond are already set to storm the popular Freedom Park at Lagos Island on Sunday, April 15, 2017 to witness 2017 edition of the ‘Sakara Music Fiesta’ between 3 and 10 pm.

The Principal organisers of the event, Hakeem Adenekan and OmobolanleDabiri, are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring a memorable event aimed at rejuvenating the dying Sakara Music which was made popular in the 60s and 70s by the likes of AbibuOluwa, Lefty Salami, Sanusi Aka, Yusuff Olatunji, Oseni Ejire and others.

Sakara music, it was gathered, provided some inspirations to Fuji music in particular during its formative period by the late DrSikiruAyinde Barrister, who is reputed as the pioneer of the genre.

Featuring at the event to re-enact the old memories are three children of the late Sakara singers. They are Jamiu Lefty Balogun, Abideen Yusuf Olatunji and Wasiu Oseni Ejire.

According to Adenekan and Dabiri, the fiesta has attracted some credible corporate organisations also interested in the revival of the genre.

The media partner of the event, Evagrin Konsepts, a language and local content promoter disclosed that the event would showcase the rich content and entertainment inherent in the Sakara Music genre.

“This high-octane event will also feature other high profile ‘rob-the-mic’ performances by avid High Networth Individuals (HNI), Sakara music lovers and other side attractions. It is expected to attract crème-de-la Crème of the Nigerian business circle, media thought-leaders, entertainment practitioners amongst many concerns,” Adenekan explained.
