Sade found in Ibadan not famous Ajala’s wife —Ebenezer Obey

Music icon, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi has reacted to news doing the rounds over a purported homeless woman, known as Sade, in Ibadan, Oyo State, who some people claimed was the famous socialite that rocked the social scene some decades ago.

Obey, who said it was not the same Sade that he praised in one of his evergreen albums, added, however, that irrespective of whether the woman was the real Sade or not, people should come to her aid over her current predicament.

“I have been making efforts to get the authenticity of the information since my attention was drawn to it. But, ordinarily, she can never be the Sade I sang about because I know Sade Ajala very well and she was my junior in primary school. Evidence that it was not the Sade I know is that the woman in question is said to be 80 and I will be 76 soon and Sade Ajala is younger.  We both schooled at Odoye Elementary School in Mushin, Lagos State; she was in primary four, when I was in primary six,” Obey said.

Obey emphasised that the unfair criticisms he had received since the news broke would not discourage him from rendering assistance to the 80-yeat-old woman.

He added: “I am not blind and my memory is still fresh to remember the real Sade I sang for; she is Sade George, and her sister is Aina George. I discovered that the purported woman people are now talking about is mentality imbalance and that she needs help. So, I am ready to rehabilitate her. I will appreciate if anybody can recommend a reputable rehabilitation home. I think this is how we can assist ourselves as good Nigerians.”

The veteran Juju musician revealed that he had commenced efforts to reconnect with the real Sade Ajala, because of the conflicting reports trailing her whereabouts.

His words: “I have been contacting some of my schoolmates to confirm her [real Sade Ajala’s] whereabouts because I know her to be a successful person and lived in Ayilara street and owned a big shop there. We met again when Ajala introduced her to me as his wife on a visit and I know her to be a successful businesswoman. Through my findings, I learnt she has a building in Ikotun and that she was into politics. In fact, some people alleged that she is dead, but I will also appreciate information about her whereabouts.
