Russia: Last election campaign intense, extremely important — Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday said that the past campaign in the presidential election was intense and extremely important.

“An extremely important election campaign for our country, society and citizens has ended.

“Each candidate had it own approach to solving specific problems,” Putin said in an address to Russians after the Central Election Committee published the final election results.

The president said all ideas and proposals put forward by other presidential candidates will be used in the interests of Russia’s development.

He, however, pledged that he will do everything to justify the trust of Russians in him.

“We [Russians] are confident in ourselves, in pour abilities and our future. Thank you,” the president said.
