Published by

THE Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brig. Gen. The state NYSC coordinator Hajia Aisha Tata Muhammed speaking on behalf of the NYSC DG said this in Kano on Saturday at the flag-off of the NYSC National Environmental Sanitation Exercise.

He added that the theme of this programme is “Clean Environment /Good Hygiene for Good Health and Long Life.”

He, however, stated that “We can no longer be indifferent to anything that will be detrimental to public health and safety.”

Meanwhile the state NYSC coordinator Hajia Aisha Tata Muhammed on Saturday led hundreds of corps members to sweep major streets in the Fagge Local Government Area.

Brig Gen Ibrahim noted that the call to action will promote cooperation and reduce indifference and ignorance.

According to him, “It may interest you to know that during the nationwide medical outreaches recently conducted on the platform of the NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD), most of the ailments diagnosed and treated were as a result of poor hygiene.”

He however disclosed that effort must be made to save many lives by empowering the people with adequate information on good grooming and environmental hygiene.

Accordingly, he noted that sensitisation efforts will focus on the following: regular environmental sanitation on fortnightly basis, clean food and water intake and proper disposal of human and animal waste.
