Runsewe takes new cultural narrative advocacy to 32 countries

The Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Otunba Segun Runsewe  has called for the need to change the cultural narrative of Nigeria through cultural integration  between Nigeria and other countries of the world.

Runsewe who made this call at a pre -INAC diplomatic dinner with  ambassadors from 32 countries of the world said the event is to prepare the ambassadors for the forthcoming International Arts and Crafts Expo, which is a brand activation and exhibition of the rich cultural offering of Nigeria

Runsewe disclose at a pre-INAC diplomatic dinner which rallied 32 ambassadors from around the world to prepare the ambassadors for the forthcoming International Arts and Crafts Expo (INAC), an event formerly called African Arts and Crafts Expo (AFAC) held in yearly in Abuja.

Speaking at the event, Runsewe said that the idea is to further integrate Nigeria’s diverse cultures with countries from across the world with a view to leveraging on the abundant potentials of the arts and culture sector in Nigeria, adding that culture is Nigeria’s new oil that will redefine the economic structure of the country.

Runsewe observed that the forthcoming Expo slated for November this year which has now been rebranded INAC will be organised at an indoor exhibition hall in Abuja to avoid any weather conditions, promising to up the game of this year’s edition through innovations to meet up international standards.

He assured that there will be ample space for other countries to showcase their cultural endowments, adding that some countries have already indicated interest to have specific days allotted for them to showcase their unique cultural offerings.

The NCAC boss however, disclosed that he has mapped out a day to host members of the diplomatic community to a special night of music, dance, games, food among other exciting features, adding that the diplomatic community night will create a platform for cultural exchanges between Nigeria and other countries of the world.

The idea according to the NCAC boss is for the ambassadors to use the opportunity to enjoy Nigerian cuisines, traditional musical presentation, local games and several other culture-friendly entertainments Nigeria has to offer the world.

Treated to a sumptuous dinner, each of the 32 envoys was also presented with unique NCAC branded souvenirs by Runsewe while decorating them with NCAC pinup crest in a symbolic move charging them to spread the good news about the new dispensation in Nigeria’s culture and living Arts industry.

In attendance were high commissioners from Cameroun, Angola, United States, Argentina, Norway, Mexico, Japan, Russia among others.
