Lawmakers resumed on Tuesday after their break to engage in verbal tirades over sitting arrangement in the renovated chamber.
The attention of President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio who was reading names of Senators who marked their birthdays during the recess was diverted by the shouting match between Senate Leader, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator representing Zamfara North, Senator Sahabi Alhaji Ya’u.
The exchange between the two lawmakers over the sitting arrangement which started in hushed tones aggravated into loud exchange of words.
Checks revealed that Senator Ya’u who was former Deputy Minority Whip in the 9th
Senate had complained to Senator Bamidele that the seat allocated to him was not dignifying as former principal officer of the Senate.The hot exchange degenerated further when former Gombe State Governor and Senator representing Gombe Central, Danjuma Goje joined Senator Ya’u to equally complain about the seat allocated to him.
President of the Senate intervention calmed frayed nerves while he proceeded to read his welcome address.
The Red Chamber eventually dissolved into Executive Session.
