Rotary Club of Rock City installs second president, presents president-elect, inducts board of directors

The Rotary Club of Rock City has inaugurated Rtn. (Engr.) Gbolagoke Oluleke Adebiyi as the second president for 2023/2024 and presented Rtn. Henry Olasupo Adedokun as the president-elect to lead the club for 2024/202. The club also inducted the board of directors.

The event took place on Sunday 10th of September, 2023 at Spices Hall, Ibara, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

In his acceptance speech, the Hope President of the club, Gbolagoke Oluleke Adebiyi pledged to uphold the mission and the vision of the club, stressing that only collective effort can make his administration succeed and carry out all the outlined projects.

According to him, “My role and vision as the second president of this club aligns with a set of outlined missions of Rotary International. We will be providing impactful selfless services to our society.

“As a Rotarian, we should imbibe the spirit of giving, and we can only succeed in this task with the collective effort of our members, friends and guests through generous donations from the resources that God provided for us towards the outlined projects for the year as a club. Lots of projects are slated for this year with the total cost of N11.5 Millon.

On his part, the President-Elect, Rtn. Henry Olasupo Adedokun disclosed the role of president and president-elect urged the public to join the club and use it as an avenue to serve their various community, adding that the government should try as much as possible to adhere to the needs of the people.

“In the Rotary world, the incumbent president carries the name of the current Rotary here; so is the Hope President for 2023/2024. And as the president-elect, you are been saddled with the responsibility to begin to prepare as the next president of Rotary for 2024/2025. Rotary is just service. It is a big service world where each and every member does something to the community in some focused area, and this helps us to at least touch life in a different way”.

“My message to Nigerians is that if you are not a Rotarian, find a way to so you can at least do something to Nigerians. Also, the government should respond to the needs of the community by making sure that each member’s life can be better. Rotarians should believe and do more because Rotary is good when you can invest your time, Treasury and your resources to make things better.”

Other board of directors inducted are Rtn. PP. Sobogu Abiodun, Club Achive/CP; Rtn. Sowunmi Oluseye, Club Secretary; Rtn. Ogunkunle Adedayo, Treasurer; Rtn. Dr. Olanrewaju Moses, Chairman Rotary Foundation; Rtn. Ajayi Olayemi, Chairman Membership Development and Rtn. Ajayi Modupeore, Polio Plus Project.

Others are Rtn. Areola Funsho, Community & Economic Development; Rtn. Adeyemi Sanwo, Club Financial Secretary; Rtn. Ibukunoluwa Oke, Club Sergeant At Arm; Rtn. Akinbola Ifedayo, Club We Care Director; Rtn. Clinton Ikpele, Chairman Public Image; Rtn. Olaide Sulaimon, Service Project; Rtn. Adebayo Babatunde, Basic Education/Social Director and Phf. Somoye Joseph, Club Adviser.

The event was witnessed by many prominent people in the society while new members were inducted.
