The Rotary Club, Ado-Ekiti, District 9125, has welcomed its 41st president, Rotarian Akinwale Olasusi, who took office after an investiture ceremony and award of excellence held in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday.
Speaking after the investiture, Olasusi pledged to work hard for the club’s progress and solicited the support of the club members to make the club more reputable.
He said he would continue the club’s tradition of serving humanity and helping the less privileged, especially in providing quality education to the young ones.
Olasusi commended the club members for entrusting him with the leadership role and promised to build on the achievements of the previous presidents to uphold the club’s core values.
He also congratulated some notable personalities who were awarded at the event in recognition of their track records and contributions to societal development.
Awards of excellence were presented to the Chairperson of the day, Yeye Aare Modupe Babalola, Senate Leader, Senator Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, a member of the House of Representatives, Air Vice Marshall Adeniyi Ojuawo (retd); the Governorship Candidate of Action Democratic Party (ADP) during the 2022 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, Erelu Kemisola Elebute-Halle, and Mr. Tope Ogunleye.
Other distinguished personalities honoured at the programme were the Ekiti Commissioner for Environment, Chief Tosin Aluko, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Ekiti State, Professor Femi Akinwumi and the Deputy Vice Chancellor of administration, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Professor Tajudeen Opoola.
The awardees expressed their gratitude to the Rotary Club, Ado-Ekiti, District 9125, for the honour and vowed to be more dedicated to human development.
The chairman of the investiture planning committee, Professor Susan Fabamise, said the club donated textbooks to some primary and secondary school pupils as part of its commitment to promote education under the “School on Wheel” programme initiated by a former club president, Professor Wale Olajide.
Also, three Students received cash gifts for their excellent performances in the maiden edition of essay writing competition organised by the Rotary Club, Ado-Ekiti where the overall best Student received the sum of seventy thousand naira.
