The Rotary Club of Iyaganku-Ibadan on Friday commissioned a renovated chemistry laboratory of Ibadan Boys’ High School, Oke-Bola, Ibadan.
Also, the club distributed notebooks to students of three schools as part of its Basic Education and Literacy programmes.
The club also commissioned a solar borehole at Bishop Akinyele Primary school, Joyce B Road, Ibadan which is a Water Project (Disease Prevention).
Speaking, president of the club, Mr Iwadola Samson, said the renovation of the chemistry laboratory, was a significant milestone in enhancing educational facilities for students of the school.
He said the project would provide a modern, well-equipped space that fosters hands-on learning and scientific exploration for the students.
He said the laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art scientific instruments and tools, allowing students to engage in experiments and practical applications of their theoretical knowledge.
“One of the areas of focus of Rotary is basic education and literacy to that effect, we went to inquired the urgent needs of the Ibadan Boys’ High School. They took us to their chemistry laboratory and we found out that no meaningful education could be acquired in the previous state of the laboratory.
“We therefore embarked on the renovation of the laboratory and as well as equipping the laboratory to ensure that is brought to a standard that education can be given a good value to the students of the school.
“We also went further to donate educational materials, as well as sponsor six of their best students, two each from Art, Science and Commercial classes.
“We sponsored their payment for their upcoming examinations in both WASSCE and NECO and we hope by these, all the students would be inspired and motivated to give in their best.
“In the same light, we also commissioned the solar power borehole constructed for Bishop Akinyele Primary school.”
In his remarks, the District Governor 9126, Kayode Olowolagba, urged the school management to maintain the project so as to encourage the donor to come back to do more.
President, Ibadan Boys’ High School Old Boys Association (IBHSOBA), Rear Admiral Lateef Akintola (rtd) commended Rotary Club of Iyaganku-Ibadan for the intervention projects, saying they would go a long way in boosting the academic development of the students.
