The incident occurred at about 8:00 p.m.
Two of the policemen were severely brutalised by the hoodlums while the rest three escaped during the attack leaving behind their AK 47 rifles.
One of the policemen, who was attacked, has reportedly died in a hospital as a result of excess blood loss.
The rampaging hoodlums allegedly made away with two AK 47 rifles that were hurriedly abandoned by the fleeing policemen who were caught unawares.

The Delta State Police Commissioner, CP Muhammad Mustafa, confirmed the incident.
He disclosed that the police had picked up some suspects in connection to the incident while further investigations had also commenced.
It will be recalled that Monday’s attack on policemen in Asaba makes it the third in two months.
Two AK 47 rifles were reportedly carted away in a similar attack at Isse-Asagba in July, while another attack on a patrol vehicle by hoodlums also took place at a gas station at Ibusa, Asaba.
