The driver, identified as Muritala, was said to have given up immediately he was shot by the armed robbers while he lost control of the vehicle.

According to a source, the armed men stopped Muritala who was driving at top speed along the Akure/ Ilesa highway, but refused to stop and the robbers shot at his Toyota Hiace and he was hit in the process.

He said that the driver swerved off the road into the bush, injuring all the passengers in the bus, saying the driver died before any help could reach him.
