THE Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Monday, said government has mobilised contractors working on road constructions spread across the state back on site.
He said this while addressing the press after an extended Executive Council meeting held at the Governor’s Office chamber, Oke -Mosan, Abeokuta.
Amosun said work would resumed at the Ilo-Awela, Moshood Abiola way, OGTV road, Akute road, Ikangba/Ilese, Atan/Agbara road among others.
“We realize that we have just two years to leave and Ogun standard is what we believed in. We will continue to give our people the dividend of democracy.
“We have re-mobilized our contractors two weeks ago and they are back on site. We will walk or talk,” he added.
The governor assured that his administration would complete all ongoing projects before its expiration in May 29th, 2019.
Amosun bemoaned the deplorable status of roads belonging to the Federal Government in the state, urging government to cede those roads to it for reconstruction.
Some of the roads he highlighted include Sagamu/Ogijo road, Lagos/Abeokuta road, Papalanto/Interchange, Lafenwa-Ayetoro and Papalanto/Ilaro.
The governor described the Sagamu-Ogijo as an eye sore considering the importance of the road to the nation’s economy.
He stated that his administration spent no fewer than N400 million during raining season on the FG roads as palliative measure to ease traffic congestion.
The governor also said that the Central Bank of Nigeria is indebted to the State to the tune of N124 billion for road repairs embarked on behalf of FG.
Amosun said, “We always use N400 million every raining season to intervene on these roads. We will appreciate if the Federal government can cede the road to us. We have the capacity to do the road better than what they (FG) can do”.
He further said that work would soon commence on at the proposed site of the State Judicial Complex which foundation was laid by President Muhammadu Buhari last year.
