Ricketts, Asita to be sworn in as chairmen of NPA, NIMASA boards Friday

The Ministry of Transport will on Friday inaugurate the boards of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

A statement signed by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Sabiu Zakari disclosed that Akin Ricketts and Honourable Asita are the new chairmen of the Boards of NPA and NIMASA, respectively.

Chief Ricketts was former Information Commissioner in Cross Rivers State.

A businessman, with interests in logistics and procurement for the oil and gas sector and mechanised farming, Ricketts is expected to bring his diverse experience in the corporate boardrooms to the strategic board of the maritime regulator.

A philanthropist of note in his home state of Cross Rivers will again carry his amiable personae and midas touch to the Nigeria Ports Authority.

Others members of the Governing Board of NPA which has Hafiz Usman retained as Managing Director included three Executive Director: Muhammed Koko, Professor Idris Abdulkadir, and Onari Brown.

Other members of the Board are Mr Ghazali Muhammed, Senator John Akpanuoedehe, Senator Binta Masi Garba, Alhaji Mustapha Dutse and Abdulwahab Adeshina.

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi is expected to preside at the inauguration.
