Popular Nigerian singer, songwriter, and musician, Ikechukwu Eric Ahiauzu, better known as Ric Hassani’s elder brother, Chinedu Ahiauzu, has revealed the artist used to be a mathematics guru while growing up as a young lad.
In his exclusive discussion with the Tribune Online on Thursday, Ahiauzu, who is the Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (London Branch), noted that Ric used to go to mathematics competitions nationally back then.
He described him as an extremely intelligent guy, noting that it is difficult to see the artist in that light because of his musical proficiency.
While stating that his brother is an energy economist, the civil engineer pointed out that one would have thought Ric would become an academic.
This was just as he stated that their dad was also into music, adding that Ric joined the choir at a very tender age and, as such, spoke about his musical dexterity.
“Ric Hassani is extremely intelligent. He used to be a math guru growing up as a young lad.
“In fact, he was going for a mathematics competition. Just because he is in the entertainment space, it is difficult to see him in that light.
“He is also an energy economist. Growing up, we knew he was above average in terms of intelligence quotient.
“One would have thought he would have been an academic.
“My dad was into music a lot. At a tender age, say 5 or 6 or 7, Ric joined the choir,” he said.
