#RevolutionNow: We arrested Sowore over threat to takeover constituted govt ― DSS

The Department of State Services (DSS), has explained that it arrested the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore following his threat to forcefully take over the democratically elected Federal Government of Nigeria through mass revolution slated to kick-off tomorrow nationwide.

The Spokesperson of the Service, Dr Peter Afunaya who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja today stated that as a responsible organisation, the Service would not sit and watch Sowore to execute his sinister motive against the state.

According to him, “Omoyele Sowore is with us, the Department of State Services, over his threat to carry a revolution in the country where there is a democratically elected government in place.

“Revolution means revolt, anarchy, insurgency, breakdown of law and order which can only happen in the Banana Republic and Nigeria is not a Banana Republic, it is being governed by a constitution and as a responsible organisation, we will not sit down and watch to allow such a thing to happen in Nigeria with our core mandate.

“We are on the top of the situation, we are appealing to all law-abiding members of the public to ignore the threat and go about their normal duties as no such revolution will happen anywhere in Nigeria by tomorrow, day after or any time.”

Tribune Online recalls that Sowore, the convener of #RevolutionNow protests slated to take place nationwide tomorrow was picked up at his apartment in Lagos on Saturday.
