#RevolutionNow: We all must rise up to liberate Nigeria now ― Protesters

Published by

Protesters under the auspices of #RevolutionNow, on Wednesday, in Abuja, trooped out in large number to condemn the current administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The revolutionaries, who were marching through the streets of Abuja, especially Unity Fountain and Transcorp junction in Maitama, and chanting solidarity songs, however, called on all Nigerians to rise up and liberate the country from the present crop of politicians, whom, according to them, lack focus, direction and not having the interest of people at heart.

Tribune Online also gathered that about 40 of them were arrested by a combined team of security operatives who was heavily armed.

It will be recalled that the Presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, who initiated the #RevolutionNow was arrested on August 3, 2019, ahead of a planned nationwide protest by Department of Security Service (DSS). He later regained his freedom through Court order after several months in their custody.

Addressing journalists during the protest in Abuja, one of the conveners, Pelumi Olajengbensin, said there is an urgent need for the country to have a change of leadership.

According to him: “There is a need for us to have people who have a clear focus, who have passion, welfare and interest of people in their heart to take over the mantle of leadership. That is why we are saying no to All Progressives Congress (APC), no to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), no to all these rascals in political authorities.

“I want to call on all Nigerians, nobody should feel so comfortable in their bedrooms, in their houses because this country is no more saved. If we don’t take our future in our hands, if we don’t take destiny in our hands, this country will continue like this.

“There is no single sector in Nigeria today that is working. Education is in shamble. Our economy is in a total mess. We have people who lack focus, direction and sympathy in the position of authority, and that is why I call Nigerians that together we must liberate this country,” he urged.
