THE much expected #RevolutionIsNow protest initially scheduled to hold in major cities across the country on Monday morning failed to hold in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, as heavily armed security officers were stationed at the two major designated locations in the city.
As early as 8.00 am, tens of patrol vehicles with armed mobile policemen, officers of the state security outfit, Operation Burst, officers of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), State Security Services (SSS), Nigerian Immigration Services, among others were positioned at the entrance of the University of Ibadan and its environs to maintain law and order.

The fierce-looking officers also patrolled the streets while the state police command task force team were also stationed at major spots in the city including Mokola, Challenge, Iwo road on Monday morning.
Tribune Online recalls that on Sunday night, a short media message and WhatsApp message went viral in the city alerting residents of the readiness to execute the planned protest.
The message reads: “Revolution Now holds at UI and Poly at 8 am”.
