A retired presiding Justice of the Ilorin Division of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore, passed away on Tuesday night.
Justice Belgore was a legal giant and a foremost leader in the Ilorin Emirate community.
In a statement issued by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, through his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor expressed his sorrow at the passing of the esteemed jurist and patriot, Justice Ahmad Olanrewaju Belgore (retired).
He also remarked that the state had lost a great man.
“Belgore, who served as the presiding Justice of the Ilorin Division of the Court of Appeal until his recent retirement, passed away on Tuesday night.
“The governor extends his heartfelt condolences to the entire Ilorin Emirate, whose illustrious son the jurist was, to the legal profession, and to the Belgores, who have lost a rare gem.
“Justice Belgore was a legal giant and a foremost community leader who offered his support to many,” the Governor said.

Governor AbdulRazaq prays for Allah to forgive Justice Belgore’s shortcomings, grant him admission to Al-Jannah Firdaus, and provide strength to the Belgores and all who mourn him.
Additionally, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, described the passing of Justice Ahmad Olarewaju Belgore (rtd) as a significant loss to the Ilorin Emirate and the nation at large.
“This is a great and colossal loss for the Ilorin Emirate and humanity as a whole.
“Inna ilaihi waina ilaehi raji’un, I received the news of Justice Ahmad Belgore’s passing with shock. He was a complete gentleman, a thorough judicial officer who served the nation meritoriously in various capacities, nationally and internationally.
“He was one of the finest Justices that the Ilorin Emirate has ever produced. He contributed significantly to the growth and development of the judiciary and humanity in general.”
“The Emir extends his condolences to the entire Belgore family, immediate and extended family members of the deceased, as well as the entire people of Ilorin and Nigerians in general over this great loss.
“He prays that Almighty Allah accepts his good deeds, forgives his shortcomings, and admits him into Al-Janatul Firdaos.”
