A coalition of Concerned Nigerians, on Monday, told President Muhammadu Buhari to either return to Nigeria or resign because of his ill health.
The group who held a peaceful protest in Abuja further demanded for the resignation of President Buhari failure to which Section 144 of the 1999 Constitution be applied.
It said the state of health was not known to Nigerians, hence his resignation or return to the country to continue governance.
The group which started the protest march from the Unity Fountain to the Federal Secretariat therefore demanded for the true health status of the President.
The convener, Our Mumu Don Do, Charles Oputa, while speaking to newsmen called for the application of Section 144 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by requesting for a medical examination of President Buhari to determine his suitability to remain in office.
Also speaking, the convener, Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, said “it is over 90 days that the President is absent from office and not able to perform his functions and we are demanding that the President’s handlers should disclose the true state of the President Buhari’s health as a mark of respect for citizens who voted him into power and also to further engender openness and transparency in government”.
It will be recalled that President Buhari had, since May 7, 2017, left the country for medical check-up in London writing to the National Assembly that he would return only when his doctors certify him fit.
The protests held simultaneously in Nigeria and the Abuja House in London.
