Restructuring must be based on 1963 constitution ―Opadokun

General Secretary of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) during the struggle over the annulled June 12, 1993 election, Mr Ayo Opadokun has avowed that the restructuring of the country being canvassed for would be effective if based on the 1963 constitution.

Opadokun described the 1963 constitution as truly federal and one that will ensure that the country takes a new course in its political history.

Noting the importance of a national conference, he further argued that recommendations of the various conferences held over time would be impactful if based on the republican constitution.

“We must convoke a conference and attend to the national restructuring being campaigned for. But, this must be based on the 1963 Republic constitution that the military overthrew and abrogated.”

“All the content of the conferences that have been held like the Babangida conference, Abacha conference, Obasanjo conference, Jonathan conference should be based on the 1963 Republican constitution which was a federal constitution.”
