Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has charged Corps members posted to the state to resist negative tendencies by some persons who are enemies of the society.
The governor also admonished them to always bear in mind that honest service and transparent commitment to contributing their quota towards the sustainable development of the State and indeed the country, should always be their goal.
Oborevwori gave the charge on Tuesday at the formal closing ceremony of the 2023″ C” Stream 1 orientation course for the corps members at Issele Uku in the Aniocha north council area of the state.
Oborevwori who was represented by the state commissioner for higher education, Prof Tonukari Johnbull assured them that the state government and the people of the State believed in rewarding excellence, honesty and selfless service to the state and humanity even as he warned them against frivolous travels, which he said, often pose dangers through accidents.
He urged them to appreciate that no matter how small their role might look like, it is important to the sustainable development of where they find themselves during the service year.
“Endeavour to make a difference by seizing innumerable opportunities lying dormant around you and waiting for
someone like you to initiate the changes.
“Through the MORE agenda of this administration, youths will receive special attention as we are determined to arm them through skill acquisition and enhanced learning to groom them towards becoming responsible
leaders of tomorrow.
“My administration is youth-friendly and we will engage them in various ways to ensure they come on board to help create a promising future where they will be proud to belong.”
State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr Alao Olusegun Olaosebikan said the three-week orientation was a period of demanding yet impactful activities as corps members were exposed to lectures on contemporary issues, Delta State’s culture and traditions and participated in a skill acquisition programme.
“As we conclude these three weeks, it’s evident that the objectives of the orientation have been achieved, showcasing the sense of responsibility of our corps members.
“To the corps members, I am delighted to send you out to the various corners of Delta State. Carry with you the knowledge gained during your time here. Your service year is an opportunity to give back to the community. Go forth with humility, render rewarding service to your host communities, be exemplary teachers, and positively impact the lives of your pupils and students,” he charged.
