Residents groan as Ogun community road collapses

Residents of Owo community in the Yewa South local government area of Ogun have expressed worry over the deplorable condition of the road that has cut it off from the rest of the communities in the state.

The Olowo of Owo town, Oba AbdulMojeed Adesegun Rufai Also, in an interview with our correspondent disclosed that a 9km road that links the agrarian community with the rest of the community in the state is no longer passable.

He added that most of the dwellers have been forced to relocate to the neighbouring communities to play their businesses

According to him, The road that leads to the entire community of Owo and its environment is no longer passable.

“Can you just imagine my people cannot even go to the Owode market? it is the only market which comes up every 5 days, but my people can’t go to the market, especially during rainy seasons. Even before the rain started, the road was completely bad and filled with potholes, and our community is almost 9km from the main road.

“We are appealing to Gov. Dapo Abiodun and Senator Olamilakan Adeola, representing Ogun West senatorial district, to come to our aid as the situation is gradually becoming unbearable.

Adeola has been of greater assistance to the community; he assisted the community with N11m in the construction of a bridge that links Owo with the Ipokia community.

‘We have constructed the bridge to a certain main level, but the road leading to the main bridge in Ikenegun Street is yet to be completed.

“Senator Adeola gave us ₦11million but we have come for his assistance again.

“Also, we have started the construction of a town hall but we still need government assistance to see to its completion.

“Our Healthcare facility is not to write home about. I was the one who sent a letter to the state government, and I repaired it. they sent a letter of appreciation to me, but I’m still appealing to the state government to come to our aid.

“We are completely marginalised, our primary and secondary schools are being abandoned.

“I am just appealing to the state government to please come to our aid; they should not focus on development only in the city; they should come to rural areas too and help us.”

In her contribution, the Erelu of Owo, Chief Aliratu Bisiriyu, called on the governor and the lawmakers representative of the state at different levels to come to their aid.
