Reps shutdown governance, postpone resumption indefinitely

Facts emerged, on Monday, that the scheduled resumption of legislative activities of the House of Representatives slated for Tuesday, April 26, 2022, has been postponed.

The Clerk of the House of Representatives, Mr Yahaya H. Dan-Zaria, confirmed this via a notice sent to all the members.

The notice posted on the House of Representatives’ official Facebook page read: “This is to inform all Honourable Members and other legislative Staff that the House Plenary earlier scheduled for Tuesday, April 26, 2022, will no longer hold.

“This is due to the early commencement of renovations in the Chambers and extension of time for Committees to file in their outstanding reports.

“A new date will be communicated in due course.

“All inconveniences are sincerely regretted.”

One of the members who confirmed receipt of the SMS notice, during a chat with the Tribune Online, said: “They’ve postponed resumption. There was no date fixed for resumption, so it’s indefinite.”

Previous inquiry from the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon Benjamin Kalu, proved abortive, as the House Spokesman did not pick direct and Whatsapp calls nor respond to the Whatsapp message sent to him.
