Reps, Service Chiefs reconcile, hold closed door session on lingering security challenges

The leadership of the House of Representatives and the Service Chiefs on Monday finally reconciled as both parties hold a closed-door meeting to deliberate on various security challenges facing the country.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila who chaired the meeting expressed grave concern over the reports bothering on kidnapping, banditry and terrorist attacks and the need for cohesion among relevant stakeholders in tackling the menace.

In his brief remarks, Hon. Gbajabiamila pledged the resolve of the House to provide a legislative solution to the challenged affecting the security agencies.

On his part, Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonnisakin, explained that the Armed Forces has continued to restrategize in the bid to address changing operational situation and tactics of the insurgents and other criminals.

While reiterating the Armed Forces commitment toward ensuring that peace returned to all parts of the country, General Olonnisakin maintained that better integration of land and air power, as well as effective coordination, has been achieved.
